Dear Alumnae,
This is a very exciting time for the Alpha Chapter! We just voted in our new executive board and this coming weekend they will completely transition into their new positions and start serving the chapter at full capacity. During this exciting time as we look forward to this new period future for our chapter, we also need to take time to reflect on our last year’s successes. We have promoted the Alpha Chi name and the prestige of our Alpha Chapter making improvements nationally and on DePauw’s campus.
Last spring semester, we achieved the highest sorority GPA with an average total of 3.436. We have been awarded this honor at least once in the last 4 years and we continue to seek the heights and work toward achieving this honor again this semester. Philanthropically, we hosted our Second Annual Strutathon, a relay race in high heels to raise awareness for Domestic Violence in the DePauw and Greencastle community. This fall we co-hosted an event with Delta Upsilon which raised money through hosting a Dodgeball Tournament. Both events were highly successful and we were pleased to see large numbers of people come out in support of our philanthropy. We also swept Little 5 last spring by winning both individually and as an overall team.
Our chapter was also lucky enough to have the pleasure of hosting a consultant from nationals who led us through the Represent program and taught us the nuances of branding, both personally and for the chapter. This not only helps us to brand the Alpha Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega, but also how to brand ourselves as we take our next steps into the world.
On October 15th, we celebrated our 128th Founder's Day, complete with a delicious dinner from Anita, our long time cook, and a serenade by the men of Beta Theta Pi. In the coming weeks we look forward to continuing our work with the Crawfordsville Women's Shelter, to whom we are sending a number of "spa day" care packages and will be helping decorate the shelter for the upcoming holidays.
This past Monon week we hosted our yearly Ring Sing pep rally which was one of our most successful events yet, and we planned a combination of a traditional pep rally in the Lily Center with a bonfire in Bowman Park. Finally, one of the most exciting events of this fall was the initiation of three continuous open bid members. These three sophomore women will make extraordinary Alpha Chi Omega's, and we cannot wait to be able to call them fully initiated members.
